As we entered the Endicott Arm small blocks of ice began passing by our cruise ship. The size ands frequency of these increased as time passed giving an indication of what was to come. Once near the Dawes Glacier we transferred to a smaller excursion vessel which gave us the opportunity to get even closer to the glacier and stop along the way to Juneau to meet up with our ship again while seeing some of the sites along the way.
The views of the glacier and the Harbor Seals perched on ice were highlights of the day. The Harbor seals prefer to stay close to the Glacier out of reach of the Orcas.
This video is a time lapse taken from the balcony of our cruise ship entering Endicott Arm, turning around at Dawes Glacier, continuing to Juneau and docking. The weather can change quite dramatically as can be seen from the video as the clouds descend on the mountains and ultimately rain begins to fall.
