During our day in Skagway we did some traveling. From Skagway we took a ferry to nearby Haines, AK then a bus to the Chilkat River and photographed sites along the way. We enjoyed a Jet Boat Tour on the Chilkoot River which was quite a thrill. The flat-bottomed boat is powered by what looks like an outboard motor but has no prop. Instead it intakes and expels water to propel the craft through the shallow channels of the river.
The river begins at the Chilkat Glacier in Canada and flows into the Chilkat Inlet and ultimately into the Pacific Ocean. The highlight of the day was seeing five Moose including one mother and calf.
