The Conowingo dam is located near the end of the Susquehanna River in Northeastern Maryland. Built in 1928, the dam generates hydro-electric power and created the Conowingo Reservoir.
Because fish can be stunned or killed when traveling through the dam, lots of wildlife can be found nearby looking for an easy meal. This is particularly true of Bald Eagles. Being opportunistic hunters, Bald Eagles can be found in great numbers all around the dam, especially when fish are plentiful. This in turn brings people looking for Eagles.
Here are my favorite pictures from the Conowingo Dam.
